The orange in one of the finest gift of nature, It is the most popular wide-spread of the citrus fruits. It is very delicious and very nourishing fruit which is up to 12 cm, in diameter, though most common one are 6-8 cm, in diameter. The fruit grow on a every green tree, up to 12 m tall, with dark green leaves and fragrant flowers.
They are many varieties of oranges. The more important ones are loose-skinned orange and sour orange, the loose-skinned orange is very popular in Britain and the tight-skinned are popular in the other part of Europe.

Origin and Distribution
The orange is a native of South China. It is believe to have been introduce to India from where it was taken to western world by Vasco da Gama in 1498. However, it did not spread in the India and the present cultivation varieties where introduce from abroad. It was extensively cultivated in Africa, Egypt, Mexico, U.S.A, Spain, Brasil, China, Japan, Italy and South Africa. In Europe, The loose-skinned orange grow widely and with ever green tree.
